Kabar “gress” dari PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) ini dirilis Kompas.com setelah menerima informasi dari internal perusahaan, bahwa produsen sekaligus pemasar sepeda motor Honda di Indonesia ini siap-siap meluncurkan skuter otomatis (skutik) baru ke pasar akhir Mei 2011. “Sebelum PRJ (Pekan Raya Jakarta) sudah diluncurkan dan bisa menggenjot jualan di acara itu,” ujar sumber dari dalam AHM, belum lama ini, weh betul-betul sebuah penetrasi yang mengejutkan.
Ya, di daftar TPT Kementerian Perindustrian bernomor TPT 334/IUBTT/TPT/3/2011 dengan kode NC11D1C AT dan ajuan produksi mencapai 23.000 unit sudah bisa dilihat bahwa itu merupakan sebuah fakta otentik yang bisa dipertanggungjawabkan.
Nampaknya dan hampir bisa dipastikan skutik baru akan mengusung mesin serupa 110 cc yang digunakan pada Scoopy dan BeAT, tapi dengan penyesuaian. “Kami berencana mengisi semua lini, dari teratas sampai terbawah,” menurut sumber tersebut. Sebagai perbandingan di negara tetangga ada dua model skutik yang baru diluncurkan Honda, Air Blade di Vietnam dan Dio di Jepang. Dari isyu yang beredar di internet, Honda akan memilih Dio ketimbang Air Blade untuk membedakan desain dari produk-produk yang sudah ada, karena mengaplikasikan lampu depan (headlight) pada setang, bukan di fairing depan seperti model lainnya (BeAT, Vario, Scoopy dan PCX). Ya, sebuah diferensiasi yang tantunya aharus dilakukan guna menarik simpati penggemar atau konsumen.
