Mobil yang baru akan lahir dan masih menunggu hasil uji emisi, yang kini masih ngantri dan dapat bagian untuk 15 Juni nanti ini tak sepi dirundung masalah. Setelah sang pengusung yakni Jokowi dan sang kreator yakni Sukiat, kini pisah alias tidak lagi bekerjasama membesarkan Esemka, ternyata polemik tak selesai sampai di situ. Belakangan terungkap bahwa Sukiat merasa kecewa karena karya siswa SMK tersebut menjadi komodoti politik untuk kepentingan sekelompok elit. Padahal Sukiyat hanya ingin mobil Kiat Esemka benar-benar dimaknai sebagai prestasi dari siswa SMK yang belajar di bengkelnya.
Beberapa kali Sukiat membeberkan bagaimana mobil Esemka bisa dirakit, termasuk pula dengan jujur membuka fakta bahwa banyak onderdil Esemka dicomot sana-sini ternyata belakangan seperti menjadi pemicu adanya teror terhadap Sukiat sang creator Mobil Esemka ini. Sebuah statmen dikeluarkan mengutip dari SPNN “Saya kan membeberkan masalah teknis apa adanya, seperti yang saya ketahui, tetapi rupanya ada sejumlah pihak yang tidak senang dengan apa yang saya beberkan. Saya tanya, di mana di Indonesia ada yang membuat gardan mobil, transmisi box dan lainnya? Kalau nanti terjadi apa-apa dengan saya, biar masyarakat tahu bahwa memang ada yang ingin menyingkirkan saya.”
