Suzuki Aktif Balap Kembali, Berkiprah Di “Suzuki Asian Challenge”
Melanjutkan pengumuman kembalinya Suzuki ke balap MotoGP pada September lalu, Suzuki juga baru saja memperkenalkan seri kompetisi balap untuk wilayah Asia yang diadakan dalam rangkaian FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) melalui press conference yang diadakan di Chang International Circuit, Thailand 9 November 2014. Seri terbaru bernama Suzuki Asian Challenge akan diadakan dalam format single-make Suzuki FU150 dan akan dibuka untuk seluruh pembalap Asia.
Menurut Mr. Motoo Murakami, Managing Director 2W PT. Suzuki Indomobil Sales, balap Suzuki Asian Challenge akan menjadi dasar dari program balap terstruktur yang pada akhirnya akan menjadi akses bagi Suzuki untuk menemukan pembalap terbaik dari wilayah Asia.
“Kembalinya Suzuki ke balap MotoGP 2015 telah diketahui oleh para fans dan publik. Kolaborasi dengan Asia Road Racing Championship ini adalah bukti kepedulian Kami untuk melatih lebih banyak talenta pembalap dari Asia yang mungkin akan menjadi pembalap Suzuki di MotoGP pada waktu yang akan datang. Dengan begitu, Suzuki Asian Challenge akan menjadi langkah terbaik bagi perkembangan para pembalap muda berbakat dari wilayah Asia. Pengelolaan program balap tersebut dipercayakan kepada Yukio Kagayama yang telah memiliki segudang pengalaman di MotoGP, World Superbike, World Endurance dan Japanese Championship baik sebagai pembalap maupun team manager/owner.” Ujar Mr. Murakami
Secara terpisah dari Suzuki Asian Challenge, Kagayama juga akan memimpin tim balap di kelas SuperSports 600cc – Team Suzuki Asia Kagayama. Tim tersebut memainkan peranan penting dalam program pengembangan talenta Suzuki, selain itu tim tersebut menjadi langkah selanjutnya bagi jawara Suzuki Asian Challenge untuk merasakan balap motor dengan kapasitas mesin yang lebih besar.
“Jawara tidak tercipta dalam satu malam. Ada perjalanan jangka panjang bagi para pembalap muda sebelum akhirnya mereka siap untuk ikut serta dalam balap kelas dunia. Tidak ada jalan pintas menuju kesuksesan, dan para pembalap yang terlatih dari Suzuki Asia Challenge harus mencapai hasil terbaik bahkan lebih kompetitif dari balap di kelas yang lebih tinggi. Bagi Saya, Sangat menarik menjadii bagian dari perjalanan mereka menuju ajang balap dunia dan Saya tidak sabar menunggu penampilan pertama tim Saya di kejuaraan regional.” Ucap Kagayama.
Suzuki Asian Challenge yang masuk dalam kalender 20th FIM Asia Road Racing Championship semakin melengkapi deretan kelas dan kategori balap yang bergengsi di Asia tersebut.
