Pebalap AHRT Finis di Posisi 6 Race 2 ATC Sepang
Pebalap binaan PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Gerry Salim dan rekan senegaranya sekali lagi berusaha menampilkan kemampuan terbaiknya di tengah kondisi lintasan yang menantang pada balapan kedua Asia Talent Cup 2017 di sirkuit international Sepang, Malaysia, Minggu (30/7). Setelah berusaha keras mempersembahkan kebanggaan bagi bangsa, Gerry Salim akhirnya berhasil menyelesaikan balap kedua ATC Sepang ini dengan finis di peringkat ke-6.
Menyusul rekan setimnya, Lucky menyelesaikan balapan ini pada posisi ke-7 dan Erfin di posisi k-8. Hasil pada balapan kedua ATC seri keempat ini mengangkat posisi Gerry menjadi peringkat 7 klasemen sementara, Lucky di peringkat 9, sementara itu Erfin naik dua peringkat menjadi posisi 10.
Hari kedua balapan ATC di sirkuit international Sepang memberikan kesulitan yang tidak terduga bagi para pebalap. Kondisi cuaca yang berubah membuat pebalap harus berusaha keras mencari set up yang tepat and beradaptasi secara cepat.
“Balapan hari ini cukup menantang. Perubahan cuaca yang drastis membuat balap berlangsung menggunakan ban basah. Lintasan ternyata berubah kering dan cuaca berubah menjadi panas. Settingan suspensi pun tidak banyak membantu. Yang bisa saya lakukan adalah berusaha tampil sebaik mungkin menghadapi kondisi tersebut. Walaupun tidak mampu naik podium lagi di balapan 2 ini, saya tetap bersyukur karena masih bisa mendapat poin. Sisa 4 race ke depan akan saya manfaatkan sebaik mungkin,” ujar Gerry Salim.
Sementara itu bagi Lucky, balapan kedua menjadi pengalaman berharga selama ATC seri keempat tersebut.
“Harus saya akui, balapan di race 2 terasa sulit. Kondisi lintasan membuat saya harus berjuang sangat kuat untuk menuntaskan balapan kali ini. Pengalaman ini menjadi bekal yang bagus untuk saya. Fokus saya saat ini adalah kembali latihan untuk mempersiapkan balap seri mendatang agar bisa tampil semakin bagus,” ujar Lucky.
Sehari sebelumnya di sirkuit yang sama, Gerry Salim menorehkan prestasi membanggakan dengan mengibarkan bendera Merah Putih dari podium ketiga. Dalam balapan ATC ini, Gerry Salim dan pebalap ATC lainnya berkompetisi menggunakan Honda NSF250R dengan karakter yang sama dengan motor yang digunakan di Kejuaraan Dunia Moto3.
General Manager Marketing Planning & Analysis Division AHM Agustinus Indraputra mengatakan pebalap telah menunjukkan peningkatan di setiap serinya bahkan berhasil mempersembahkan podium di balapan seri keempat ini.
“Kami bangga para pebalap muda ini menunjukkan semangat pantang menyerah menghadapi beragam kondisi lintasan sirkuit dalam meraih mimpi mereka memberikan kebanggaan bagi bangsa. Kami siap selalu untuk mendukung hal tersebut bagi generasi muda yang memiliki potensi melalui pembinaan balap berjenjang AHM,” ujar Indraputra.
Gelaran ATC kini menyisakan 2 seri. Seri selanjutnya akan diadakan pada 13-15 Oktober di Jepang dan yang terakhir pada 27-29 Oktober di Malaysia.
