ABS Jadi Fitur Standar Motor BMW, Honda Jadi Pelopor ABS di Indonesia
Brader sekalian penerapan antilock brake system (ABS) pada motor dimulai sejak 23 tahun lalu oleh BMW Motorrad, kini akhirnya BMW mengumumkan kalau mereka bakal menjadi produsen motor pertama di dunia yang menjadikan ABS sebagai piranti standar pada seluruh line up motornya. Seperti dilansir dari siaran pers BMW Motorrad, yang dikutip detik oto Minggu (24/4/2011) ABS akan menjadi standar untuk model motor 2012.
Pieter de Waal, Wakil Presiden, BMW Motorrad AS mengatakan, “Ini saatnya bagi kita semua industri sepeda motor untuk menggunakan manfaat sistem ABS. Tes yang mendalam oleh pakar keamana, pihak berwajib dan kalangan jurnalis menunjukkan secara konsisten bahwa ABS dapat mengurangi kecelakaan dan menyelamatkan nyawa pengendara,” Pieter berharap penerapan ABS bisa mengurangi angka kecelakaan yang melibatkan sepeda motor.
Sementara itu di Indonesia Honda melalui CBR 250 ,menjadi pelopor motor ATPM dengan menggunakan tehnologi ABS ini. Ya seperti yang kita ketahui CBR 250 adalah kelas 250 pertama di Indonesia bahkan di semua kelas untuk motor ATPM yang menggunakan ABS ini. Akankah nantinya semua motor juga menggunakan ABS? Waa, pertanyaan ini nampaknya butuh pemikiran yang mendalam untuk menjawabnya. Satu sisi memang ABS ini lebih safety, para biker akan terhindar dari peristiwa sliding ketika rem ngelock alias ngunci, namun bagi yang lain nampaknya masih banyak berpandangan bahwa di motor-motor kecil terlalu mahal untuk aplikasinya dan belumlah perlu untuk memboyong ABS ini karena kecepatannya relatif slow, ya mungkin cukup CBS lah kalau nggak ABS, heheheehhe. Ya pada intinya tehnologi itu memudahkan dan menambah safety bagi manusia bukan menyusahkan, boleh jadi nantinya bakal menyusul V-ixin ABS, Ninja 250 ABS atau bahkan pit ABS (SupraFit) sopo nyahok.
