Gubernur Sumsel Tandatangani Pra Kontrak dengan Dorna Sport, GP 2018. Ya, Indonesia menjadi penyelenggara MotoGp untuk tahun 2018 nampaknya makin terlihat nyata gan. Bahwa Palembang membuat sirkuit baru di Jakabaring untuk menjadi tuan rumah nampaknya memang serius. Alex Noerdin Gubernur Sumatra Selatan ini hadir langsung di balapan GP Malaysia akhir pekan lalu untuk menandatangani kontrak dengan Dorna Motor Sport, selaku pemegang hak komersial MotoGP. Dalam situs resmi MotoGP diberitakan sebagai berikut :
“Gubernur Sumatera Utara, Alex Noerdin, penasihat Ikatan Motor Indonesia (IMI) Romy Winata, dan Ulrich Merres dari Tilke Engineering datang ke Sepang untuk menandatangani kesepakatan pra-kontrak, membuat projek GP Indonesia berjalan”
Sebagaimana telah beredar kabar sejauh ini, bahwa desain Sirkuit Jakabaring yang didesain oleh Tilke Engineering, yang sebelum bekerja sama membuat desain Sepang International Circuit dan Circuit of the Americas di Austin, Texas telah banyak beredar di dunia maya. Nah kabarnya memang desain inilah yang bakal digunakan. Konstruksi direncanakan dimulai tahun depan dan diprediksi menelan biaya hingga US$32 juta, atau setara Rp417 miliar.
Sirkuit Jakabaring bkal dibangun di tanah seluas 120 hektare, di samping danau Palembang, tepat di sebelah Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya. Panjang 4,314 kilometer itu bisa menampung penonton hingga 130 ribu orang.
