Mobil Presiden RI pertama, Soekarno, Seri Chrysler Winsor Deluxe Produksi 1952
Mobil dinas pemimpin sebuah negara secara langsung maupun tidak adalah simbol dari negara yang bersangkutan. Oleh karena itu, tak heran maka kemudian mobil-mobil mereka terhitung eksklusif.
Selain eksklusif, di masa sekarang mobil-mobil pemimpin dunia itu juga harus memenuhi standar keamanan kelas atas. Lihat saja The Beast, mobil kepresidenan Trump. Mobilnya dapat menangkal serangan peluru atau serangan kimia.
Namun tentu sebelumnya tidak begini. Di zaman dulu, standar keamanan mobil dinas kepala negara tak begitu baik. Chrysler Imperial milik presiden pertama Indonesia misalnya, spakbor kirinya rusak dan kaca belakang pecah pasca peristiwa percobaan pembunuhan yang dikenal dengan Peristiwa Cikini, 30 November 1957.
Soekarno dan Chrysler Imperial
Telah disebutkan sebelumnya, mobil inilah yang menjadi saksi bisu bagaimana Presiden Pertama kita coba dibunuh menggunakan granat tangan. Dari sekian banyak mobil dinasnya yang lain, belum pernah ada yang kisahnya sama dengan Imperial.
Mobil ini pertama kali diperkenalkan pada 1926. Saat itu, Imperial memang merupakan salah satu versi tertinggi dari lineup Chrysler.
Chrysler Imperial memiliki kapasitas mesin 5.300 cc dengan transmisi manual 3 percepatan. Mesin tersebut semburkan tenaga sekira 130 Tk.
